It is meant to be sung before the actual song...but the song itself is meant to be sung before (younger people)...however, the fact that one is older does not change the mechanics of the thing...a circular explanation...

I often like to think about what all these romantic songs would sound like if the person who had written them, having been married for sixty-something years, wrote them again. Here’s a popular country song about the “sport of Love”, and what I think it might sound like to the Love veteran. I like this song in it’s original version because while it talks about the act of marriage, it gives no indication in my mind that this is not a man talking to his wife, therefore, biblically, it can be a pure song. I think there is a big difference between sensual songs and sinful songs. God does too. Just read Song of Solomon! The original (which you should be listening to now) I would consider a sensual one (and so does my wife).

Back To Genesis

I was reading in Genesis earlier, and I came to the end of Genesis 4. it says "At that time, men began to call on the Name of the Lord."

What does this mean?

I have no idea, but here is a snapshot of the background:

This comes not long at all after the creation and the Fall. Lamech, Great, Great, Great grandson of Cain, Adam's murderous son, had just admitted to killing a man and cursed the avenger of the dead man by one-upping God's curse to the killer of Cain. Not a whole lot had happened since Cain had been exiled. people were born and died, Seth was born to Adam and Eve, and the core of all that is was brought about (music, iron work, etc.), but it is only here at the end of Chapter 4 that the Bible says that people began to call on the Name of the LORD. why is that? Why do they start so far after Adam (6 generations) and so close to the Flood (4 generations as best as I can tell)?

We've been married for three and a half years, and it's not that our marriage has grown stale, because it hasn't. I do believe I have learned more about the leadership of Christ and how He feels when He's trying to lead us. But we are longing to have children, and the one we're expecting in December is a boy. His name will be Joseph Steven Christian. I think about him a lot, and I already miss him. I've written before about the fact that I have always wanted to be a Dad, and now that am eligible for this "promotion," I am more longing for it now than ever.

This is another Johnny Cash song that I rewrote. I don’t know who originally wrote the song, but Nine inch nails came out with it first, and Johnny Cash did it as a single on his last album, American IV. This song deals with a problem that most (I dare say all) men deal with, and I am finding that many women do too (although they are a little more modest about such problems, I find, than men are) The pain that is conveyed in the original by Cash is not lost here, I don’t believe, and if it is to you, it wasn’t to me when I wrote it. I was under extreme conviction about what I had just done, and this song started playing on the random selection of my mp3. I rewrote it as it played and put it first in my journal. It was self explanatory. I think this is one of the two not-funny remix I have ever written.

Man and Law

I often have a problem with the extra rules that men add to God's laws. For example, God says rest on the Sabath, the Jews put laws in place saying exactly what you could not do on the sabath. only walk this far, do not labour this much, stay at home, these sorts of things. God says "stay pure", Catholic Clergy can't even get married. God says do not get drunk, Baptists tell us that it is a sin to even drink at all. But this has been going on since the begining. I noticed that this morning when reading Genesis 2 and 3.

Is it sin to add caution to command? apparantly not. It was going on before sin even entered the world.

Genesis two says this:

¹⁵ The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. ¹⁶ And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; ¹⁷ but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

Now we have to note that God did not give this command directly to Eve. this command was there before Adam even named the animals and found out he was alone. Adam was the head of Eve as God was the Head of Adam, so it was Adam's job to pass the command on to Eve. But in Genesis three when the serpend tempted Eve, we find outt hat Adam was embellishing a little on God's command:

² The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, ³ but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' "

Now we see why men add to God's command, don't we? Now we are not here to argue about why Adasm was right there and didn't Cowboy up to the serpeant, but I thought it was interesting that God told Adam "don't eat" and Adam told Eve "don't touch." And God seemed to be ok with that.

Tomorrow's is a poem turned song. I wrote it one night when I went to the future Mrs. Cowboy’s house to get or do something (I can’t remember what), and she was asleep. I sat down in her living room/den, and wrote this. I have only ever written one limerick, but this entire thing just sort of came out of nowhere! That’s ok, Mrs. Cowboy liked it, and that’s who I wrote it for anyway!
